AILET continued unabated in its surprises and maintained a second run of a tough paper with some English questions that were bouncers and legal that more than made up for the missing reading and comprehension.

GREAT SCORE – 88+

LEGAL

 

The legal aptitude section was nothing short of a huge MYTHIC reading, where the only thing predictable was the mix of reasoning and legal knowledge. There were 15 reasoning questions and 20 questions on legal GK. The knowledge based section was almost entirely current affairs focused, everything FROM GK GENIUS, for example questions ranging from Triple Talaq to Marital Rape were the easy ones. Some which would perhaps require a slightly deeper reading would be ones like ‘the establishment of Courts for MPs’ etc. The legal reasoning section was as always a surprise. This time, perhaps slightly harsher than earlier. Whilst the specific areas of examination were the ones that most of you would have already looked at, it was the application that was quite a challenge. This was mostly because as was consistent throughout the paper, the legal reasoning was also substantially lengthy. This means there would be quite an English challenge to counter the length of the questions. But wait, it wasn’t just that, it was also that there was also a vocabulary challenge in the legal section itself! For example the question relating to defamation and the “2 tweets” had reflected a high demand for proficiency over the English language itself. Given that there is negative marking for the first time the cut offs are expected to drop at least a little if not substantially. However, all said and done, the people who had focused on making newspaper reading an everyday habit to improve both their GK and language speed would have an advantage.

Good Score in Legal Aptitude: 24-26/35

 

MATHS

 

Mathematics section was easy to moderate level.  All questions were very much doable in the given time frame. No surprises.

Ratio and application – 3 questions

Boats and streams – 1 question

Mensuration – 1 questions.

Probability – 1 question.

Clocks – 1

 

Good Attempt – 7/10

AR

There was no surprise element in the Analytical Section which consisted of 23 Questions covering almost every topic i.e. Coding & Decoding (2Q), Odd one out based on  series & coding (4Q), Circular Arrangements(7Q), Grouping (7Q), Clocks(1Q) and Direction Sense (2Q). The question on Grouping was moderately difficult while all other questions were on the easier side. An ideal score in the AR section would be 15 marks but anything over that would be good.

Good attempt – 13-15/23

CR

CR was again a smaller section compared with AR, but AILET continued its tradition to give standard Cr questions (5). There were 5 degree of truth questions as well and a couple of Assertion Reason questions. Most were doable and 7-8 marks could have been got here.

GK

GK section was moderate. 5 to 6 questions were good. 30-32 questions were based on current affairs and 3-4 on static (miscellaneous) just like last year’s Ailet. GK Genius was your safety net. Do check out the number of questions from there.

English

The English section was like the rabbit out of the bag, which you could applause from a distance. Some unfair questions spoilt the tempo of the section, although half of it was doable

Figures of speech – 7 questions

And punctuation – 6 questions were the trickiest. Rest of the paper comprising

Common confusables – 5

Subject verb detection – 5

The paper was yet again a departure from standard AILET paper with a good RC section and vocabulary question bank so that in itself was a surprise.

Objectively speaking around 18-20 marks will be a good score
