- Union Cabinet approved a new process of strategic disinvestment to privatize selected Public Sector Units (PSU). Under this process, the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) operating under the Ministry of Finance will be the nodal agency. The money earned by the government through the disinvestment policy will be deposited in the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF).
- The National Health Authority (NHA) has collaborated with Google to strengthen the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY). They will be working closely to explore various user cases for increasing process efficiencies in day-to-day applications.The PMJAY is a centrally sponsored scheme (CSS) that was launched in 2018.
- Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh YS Jagan Mohan Reddy launched the YSR Vahana Mitra scheme. It provides Rs.10,000 allowance every year to self-employed drivers of autos, taxis and maxi cabs of the state. The annual allowance would be provided to meet the recurring expenses such as insurance premium, license fee and maintenance of vehicle to procure fitness certificate.
- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mauritian Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth jointly inaugurated the Phase-1 of Metro Express Service and a new ENT Hospital in Mauritius through video conferencing. India and Mauritius are committed towards working for the prosperity of their people and for peace in the Indian Ocean region (IOR) and in the world.
- Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina arrived in New Delhi on a four-day visit to India. She will attend the India Economic Summit of World Economic Forum (WEF) in Delhi on 3rd October 2019. She will hold bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both of them will jointly inaugurate three bilateral projects through a video conference call and exchange Memorandum of Understandings (MoUs).
- Chhattisgarh Government launched five new schemes – Mukhyamantri Suposhan Abhiyan, Mukhyamantri Haat Bazaar Clinic Yojana, Mukhyamatri Shahariya Slum Swasthya Yojana, Universal PDS Scheme and Mukhyamantri Ward Karyalaya – on 2nd October, 2019. Under the Mukhyamantri Ward Karyalaya, the citizen services and facilities will be provided immediately to the citizens in cities. Under the Universal PDS (Public Distribution System) scheme, the general category families are also eligible for food grains.
- The International Day of Non-Violence is observed every year on 2nd October across the world to promote non-violence through education and public awareness. On 15th June, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution to declare the day as the International Day of Non-Violence. The day commemorates the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the leader of the Indian independence movement and a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
