- National Green Hydrogen Mission gets Cabinet nod.
Announced by the PM in his independence speech in 2021, the draft plan for the same was made by the Ministry of New and Renewable energy. Green Hydrogen is produced by splitting water through electrolyser which is powered by renewable energy. Not only can green hydrogen decarbonize many sectors but also the renewable energy which cannot be stored or used by the grid can be chanelled to produce it. Through this mission, India will become a global hub for the production and export of green hydrogen and its derivatives. Nearly 50 MMT per annum of CO2 emissions is also expected to be averted with this by 2030.
- Combative federalism in water-sharing matters
Manohar Lal Khattar and Bhagwant Mann, the Chief Ministers of Haryana and Punjab met in the presence of the Union Minister for Jal Shakti Ministry, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat to be able to resolve a long standing dispute with respect to the Satluj Yamuna Link Canal. As expected, the result remained inconclusive. While Haryana pushed its claim on the construction of the canal, Punjab is asking for a re-assessment of the amount of water in the river as it claims that its aquifers have dried up considerably.

Fundamental rights under A19, A21 can be enforced against a private individual as well as the State. The reasonable restrictions to freedom of speech and expression shall only be limited to the grounds mentioned under A19(2). Vertical application means that the fundamental rights are enforced only against public authorities, whereas, the horizontal application of the same also brings the actions of private players under scrutiny for constitutional adjudication. The idea of horizontal application was first started in Ireland.
- Ex-post facto approval for naming Manohar International Airport.
The greenfield international airport was inaugurated by PM Modi in December 2022 and has been named after the former Defence minister and Goa CM Manohar Parrikar in recognition of his contribution in building up modern Goa.
- Chief recruiter of Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir, Aijaz Ahmad Ahanger designated as a terrorist.
Aijaz Ahmad Ahanger, alias Abu Usman Al-Kashmiri has been designated as a terrorist by Union Ministry of Home Affairs. His name came on the radar after Afghan intelligence agencies launched an investigation into the attack on Kabul gurudwara on March 25, 2020. He will be the 49th individual to be designated as a terrorist under the 4th schedule of UAPA, 1967. In 2019, UAPA, 1967 was amended to allow the government to designate an individual as a terrorist as earlier it was only restricted to be able to designate a ‘group’ as a terrorist group.
- First woman officer of the Indian Army deployed at Siachen
Captain Shiva Chauhan from Corps of Engineers became the first woman officer to be deployed at the Kumar post at an altitutde of around 15,600 ft. in Siachen for a period of three months.
